What Are E4D Same-Day Dental Crowns?
E4D same-day dental crowns are restorations that are designed and fabricated on a same-day basis using advanced technology we have in the office. Like “regular” dental crowns, E4D same-day restorations are fully customized using high-quality materials. The difference is that instead of sending the crown design to a dental lab for fabrication, we can simply feed the information into the E4D CAD/CAM software and mill the crown right then and there!
The Process of Getting a E4D Same-Day Dental Crown
After meeting with you for a consultation and confirming your health history, we’ll capture images of your mouth with our TRIOS® scanner. These images will essentially function as digital impressions we’ll use to determine the best measurements for your crown. Once we’re confident in the design for your crown, we’ll run the data through our E4D machine, which will in turn transfer the information to our in-office milling unit. The mill will cut out your crown from a block of porcelain, sort of like how a sculpter chips away at rock to create a statue. When that’s all done, we’ll polish up the crown and place it on your tooth. It’s as simple as that!

As noted earlier, the main difference between E4D same-day crowns and traditional crowns is how quickly they can be made and placed. Since traditional crowns are sent to a third-party dental lab for fabrication, it can take two or more weeks for a patient to receive their fully customized restoration.
